About Carmen Perez

SEED Health Solutions was born in 2025 from both professional insight and personal experience.

As an immigrant from El Salvador, Carmen Perez grew up navigating the silence surrounding mental health struggles. At that time, there were no bilingual or bicultural mental health services, and her parents had no knowledge about mental health. Her own journey with depression as a young person sparked a lifelong mission: to ensure that no family faces similar pain without culturally sensitive support.

Before starting a career in healthcare, Carmen devoted her time to working with children, youth, and families through organizations such as Big Brothers Big Sisters and Head Start, as well as serving as a bilingual first and second grade teacher.

Carmen's journey in healthcare began at an adult day health center, where she dedicated herself to serving seniors. Her career expanded across various healthcare systems, allowing her to gain a comprehensive, system-level understanding of care.

With nearly two decades of experience in mental health, healthcare, and advocacy, Carmen has worked with children, adolescents, families, and seniors. Throughout her career, she has observed the impact of stigma, the shortage of bilingual providers, and fragmented systems on Latino families, often leaving them underserved. In response to these challenges, Carmen founded SEED, an organization committed to providing culturally responsive care to ensure that families receive the support they need.

Carmen holds an MBA from UC Davis, an MSW from the University of Michigan, and a B.A. from UC Berkeley.

“Community well-being grows when we plant the right seeds—partnerships, compassion, and accountability.”

Today, SEED partners with nonprofits, schools, and government agencies to co-design programs that uplift voices, empower providers, and drive systemic equity.
